BWW share price has tumbled 17% even though they have made a modest recovery in the last quarter (and why wouldn’t they after sporting events, people go for beer + wings). So-called activist investor Mick McGuire has criticized the chain and chosen to point out errors in their management, franchising strategy and capital allocation.
Might I suggest that the problems at the sharp end come from their food + drink being average to mediocre, their service being poor and their restaurant policy of banning firearms, even CCW holders, a slap in the face of the law abiding patron, and political grandstanding to boot.
Those reasons alone have dropped BWW from a ‘love to visit’ to a ‘can we go somewhere else’ when the place is suggested. At least once in the last year I can recall that I chose NOT to eat out rather than eat at BWW!!
I begrudge signing the check at this place, because the money just isn’t worth the aggravation of bad service and just average to crappy wings – don’t even get me started on their celery + carrot sticks, which I have had to send back TWICE in a single visit.
Some might think that these issues are local to a single restaurant, not indicative of a corporate problem – and I thought that also – until the same lackluster service + dodgy food was found in FOUR different BWW outlets throughout Colorado and over the last 3-4 years. This is horrendously different from the trips we used to enjoy BWW when they first came to the state and Northern Colorado.
The upshot of this chain-wide crappiness is – I’d rather eat at home than pay for BWW now. 🙁 Buffalo Wild Wings
