Cottage Pie (Shepherd’s Pie with Beef)

There is a great debate as to the proper name for a meat dish with potato on top – does the name matter? Heck no! Just make it and enjoy it!

My 2-cents or 2-pence-worth is that It’s called a Shepherd’s pie or cottage pie, and I don’t get bent out of shape over which meat it has inside, as long as I know going in, which meat is this?!?

  • 1 Large Skillet
  • 1 Large saucepan
  • 1 Low Ovenware Dish square/rectangular

Ingredients

The Meat Mixture

  • 2 lb Ground Beef (80/20 is perfectly good)
  • 1 cup Frozen Peas & Carrott Mix (or use fresh carrot & frozen peas)
  • 1 Large Onion
  • 2 Oxo Cubes
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce Lea + Perrin Prefrerred

For the Mashed Potatoes

  • 2 lb Floury Potatoes Maris Piper, King Edwards or Russet Potatoes
  • 1 stick Butter Salted
  • 1 cup Milk
  • Salt + Pepper to taste

Just make the dish ahd enjoy it with your family, with a little ketchup, or some daddies sauce or HP sauce.
