There is a great debate as to the proper name for a meat dish with potato on top – does the name matter? Heck no! Just make it and enjoy it!
My 2-cents or 2-pence-worth is that It’s called a Shepherd’s pie or cottage pie, and I don’t get bent out of shape over which meat it has inside, as long as I know going in, which meat is this?!?
Cottage Pie (Shepherd's Pie with Beef)
A traditional dish made with ground meat and mashed potatoes and gravy.

- 1 Large Skillet
- 1 Large saucepan
- 1 Low Ovenware Dish square/rectangular
Ingredients
The Meat Mixture
- 2 lb Ground Beef (80/20 is perfectly good)
- 1 cup Frozen Peas & Carrott Mix (or use fresh carrot & frozen peas)
- 1 Large Onion
- 2 Oxo Cubes
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce Lea + Perrin Prefrerred
For the Mashed Potatoes
- 2 lb Floury Potatoes Maris Piper, King Edwards or Russet Potatoes
- 1 stick Butter Salted
- 1 cup Milk
- Salt + Pepper to taste
Just make the dish ahd enjoy it with your family, with a little ketchup, or some daddies sauce or HP sauce.
