HFCS – the corn lobby will tell you that it is perfectly safe – natural – and “as good” for you as “natural sugar”.
effing Bullshit!
It didn’t take a rocket scientist for me to work out that whenever I consume large quantities of HFCS – it sends me running to a bathroom – and I mean fast! The problem for me is that my body doesn’t tolerate the stuff… it is like it is telling me – don’t drink this.. I want rid of it… and rid of it is exactly what happens… I’ll spare you the details, but let’s just say… I will be out of the bathroom when the HFCS is out of me…. ok – enough said.
So – I’ve known for a long time that my body doesn’t like the HFCS that I occasionally put into it… but the corn lobby continues to market it and using websites like “SweetSurprise.com” and TV ads that tell us to “get the facts” – like this one I link here…

However, my body doesn’t treat these simple sugars as equal and I hate it when I get lied to… so here are a few “factoids” and you can make your own minds up…
Nothing you eat naturally has as much fructose in it as HFCS. Our bodies did not evolve dealing with so much fructose – and no matter what the corn lobby tells us – our bodies can tell the difference… the simple test is the sugary drink test…
Our bodies when forced to consume say, a 2 litre bottle of natural sugar soda – would stop you – they would realize it is bad and stop you – some how – vomiting perhaps.
On the other hand – a drink sweetened with HFCS is not going to send the “stop” signal – your body doesn’t realize it is getting all the calories – and in they go.
Again, the corn lobby says…
1. it’s natural 2. your body can’t tell the difference 3. it metabolizes the same way
http://www.webmd.com/heart/metabolic…ose-vs-glucose
In the study mentioned – HFCS added fat in a different place (the belly) – which is actually worse for the heart I understand… Definitely an indication that your body knows a difference – even if your mind doesn’t.
Those that tell you that Fructose is the same, and it should not make a difference need to consider how we evolved….
we evolved eating fructose in conjunction with plant fibers that had to be broken down by the mastication and digestion of plant cell walls and other items – not getting liquid fructose that can cross the gut wall almost instantly.
Many fruits have a similar ratio of fructose vs glucose – but most have TWICE the amount of either fr./gl. in sucrose – ie, glucose is a minor sugar in natural food!

our fructose delivery system wasn’t just a can of soda for millions of years!
So while simple sugars are bad for us in any form – it does seem that consuming tons more fructose than other sugars is not something we’re used to – and that industrial corn manufacturers have found a way to make this stuff in massive quantities, does not mean our bodies will deal with it properly – and probably NEVER will. Some people will deal with it better than others – but in the study mentioned in Webmd above – there was a definite difference in how the test group reacted… ergo – our bodies do NOT deal with HFCS the same as other simple sugars… this could (I believe *is*) behind the obesity epidemic.
But we must always remember that are not simple machines and many factors come into play – MANY factors – and what adversely affects me, might well have ZERO affect on you.. interesting though…. I just hate HFCS – it messes with me and sends me to the bathroom to get rid of the stuff – my body is sending me BIG messages that it does not like HFCS in large doses, but I am definitely n a minority – I’m actually kind of glad that HFCS and me don’t get along that well!
I’ll leave you with this…
