Having just got back from a business conference, I have a small stack of business cards which I want to capture – and this happens every time I go to a conference, trade-show, or large business networking event – I’m sure you’ve been there also.
Just about every time I get back with more than 1-2 cards, I ask myself – there has to be an easier way to scan these – and over the years, I have tried a number of “apps” to scan + add cards to my database. I have to say – with varying degrees of success – but I think I might have found this holy-grail of apps… and it is called….
Card Munch.
ok – so it’s a funny name – but the concept is simple… this app comes from LinkedIn – so you’ll get where I’m going…. first take a photo of the card in Card Munch – upload it – wait for their servers/people/elves/whatever to capture the info – and when it comes back to you – then you have choices – you can send a linkedin connection request at a click of a button – and with 2 clicks, you save the contact to your iphone/ipad/icloud contacts… this is AWESOME!!
Sure – I’ve seen other apps do some of this – but the key here is the linkedin integration… now I have a request out to this person – they know it was from their card – and not some trawl of people who people I know might know. This alone should mean that I can build my network of people I’ve met in a fast and efficient manner… if you have linkedin – and you collect cards from people you meet – get Card Munch!
